I sold mistletoe in front of a store before I was six, and by sixteen I had two jobs and had moved my schooling to independent study so the paychecks could keep coming. I come by resourcefulness honestly.
Years later, working for other people, that same instinct finally had a name. One company was taking its orders on handwritten notes, so I built it into a real customer database. Another was tracking its people on handwritten timecards, so I automated their payroll. Nobody asked me to. I just can’t look at a broken system and leave it alone.
That’s the person who built LaunchKit: not a marketer with a course to sell, but someone who has spent her whole life turning chaos into systems that actually run.
THEN I BUILT A BUSINESS WITH NO PLAN
Her name was Sew Stacy, and I ran every inch of it myself. I designed the fabric and the patterns. I built the website, shot the tutorials, wrote the emails, ran the socials, answered customer service, managed the affiliates, all while solo-parenting three kids under three. It was making real money. I was sleeping about four hours a night.
It was working. It was also taking every hour I had, and then reaching for the hours I didn’t. Eventually I had to end the one thing that was fully mine. Not because it failed, but because I never had a plan. I was just winging it, learning the same lessons over and over, which took twice as much time as it ever needed to.
Sew Stacy is back today, on completely different terms. Now it’s something I do because I love it, not the thing my whole life has to balance on. That difference is the whole reason the rest of this page exists.
WHAT CHANGED
I’ve loved technology since I was a kid learning to type on AOL Instant Messenger. These days, AI handles the parts that used to eat my nights (content outlines, customer replies, launch checklists, planning docs), so I can build with margin instead of on four hours of sleep. But the tools were never the point.
